Craniosacral Therapy

I was raised in Fresno, CA in a family of six. In 1995 I moved to Berkeley, California where after 4 years I earned my degree in psychology at UC Berkeley. Looking for a career path in manual therapies, I relocated to Santa Fe New Mexico where I attended massage school and began my path as a massage therapist. I now have over 18 years of experience as a manual therapist, treating individuals that are looking for pain relief and functional improvement. I have extensive training in craniosacral therapy, visceral manipulation, myofascial release, joint mobilization and nerve manipulation, and have taught classes in medical massage, sports massage, anatomy, physiology and kinesiology.

Attended National Holistic Institute in California and graduated with a certification in Massage Therapy and Neuromuscular Therapy. Then while being a Licensed Massage Therapist and Neuromuscular Therapist Jen became more intrigued and fascinated with the body’s musculoskeletal system. With her experience and knowledge, she discovered that most bodily discomforts come from overuse of muscles and joints. With a holistic approach, she truly believes being more mindful of your posture, body movement, and with proper care and treatment it can make a world of difference.

Thu Yen Mac earned her Masters in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine at the New England School of Acupuncture (NESA), the country’s first and oldest acupuncture school. It is a 3.3 year program that consists of over 3000 hours of academic training and clinical practice. In the last 1.5 years of the program, she did 925 hours in patient care clinic rotations at NESA, Boston Medical Center, Winchester Hospital, and Boston’s Pathways to Wellness Center.

Her Approach:

Thu Yen is also a Tong Ren Therapy practitioner and has been certified by the Oriental Culture Institute. Developed by Tom Tam, and an integral part of the Tom Tam Healing System, Tong Ren is a form of energy therapy for restoring health and vitality. Tong Ren is based on a belief that disease is related to interruptions, or blockages, in the body’s natural flow of chi, neural bioelectricity, blood, or hormones. Tong Ren seeks to remove these blockages, restoring the body’s natural ability to heal itself, even when illnesses are chronic, debilitating, or otherwise untreatable. Tong Ren combines western knowledge of anatomy and physiology with the ancient principle of “chi,” or life force energy, to create what many consider to be a powerful new healing modality.”

Hello, my name is Zyre. I’m of Creole blood, born in New Orleans and raised in suburban Connecticut. I attended the graduate program of the World Medicine Institute in Honolulu, Hawaii. One of the first Acupuncture Schools in the United States. My sessions are more of an experience. The teacher/student, student/teacher role. We both learn from each other and in turn, help each other to grow into the people we strive to be. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a Specialization in Mental Health, attending Southern Connecticut State University on a track scholarship. I’m a lifelong athlete with 25+ years experience in sports training, nutrition and health management.

I transferred schools, from Phoenix, Arizona to Oahu in September 2013 to attend a traditional Taoist school. My foundation in Phoenix was great, but on Oahu I was able to obtain the spiritual component I desired to explore at my own pace. I learned to put the philosophy into action. Living and breathing Chinese Medicine. Deciphering the nuances and making connections between thoughts and actions and how they affect the body and spirit. After seven years of study, I’ve ‘come out the other side’ and ready to share the wisdom I’ve acquired through all the resources, people and technology this age has to offer. I hold a License to practice Acupuncture in the state of Hawaii, with a Master’s in Oriental Medicine. I’m one of the kindest people you could meet. I love to serve, whether it be working at a restaurant or running up the stairs to grab a sweater because you’re cold. In my personal time, I love to run, catch sunrises or sunsets, jam out at the gym (hoping no one notices), the euphoria of dance, pure silence and stimulating conversation with strangers. I look forward to the opportunity in helping you find your balance, as well as the stories we’ll share along the way.

Love, Metta and Aloha,

Zyre
